William Robert Walters was born May 26, 1939, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Methuselah and Violet (Manery) Walters. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1957 and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Bud began a career in information technology and data processing at the Rock Island Arsenal. He dedicated 35 years of service to the Arsenal before retiring, then continued working in a similar capacity for another decade.
On May 29, 1967, Bud married the love of his life, Marsha Argenbright, in Alexandria, Virginia. Together they built a marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion that spanned nearly six decades. The couple especially enjoyed wintering in Sanibel Island together.
Bud served for more than ten years on the Coal Valley Village Zoning Board and was an active member of both the Coal Valley Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was known for his remarkable gardening talents and took great pride in his tropical flowers, banana trees, and more than 300 varieties of hostas, each carefully labeled.
Bud spent countless hours woodcarving and woodturning in his Coal Valley workshop. He also enjoyed fishing with his good friend, Mark Armetta. One of his favorite accomplishments was restoring and transforming his 1929 International truck into an award-winning Budweiser-themed showpiece.
Bud is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha; three daughters, Susan Walters of Moline, and Amy (Rob Sletten) Walters Sletten of Elko New Market, Minnesota, and Karla Nicholson of Milan, Illinois; his grandson, Alexander (Maggie Pappas) Walters; and two sisters, Patricia Carmack of Rock Island, and Shirley (Jim) Cirrcione of Moline, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Robert Carmack..
