Werner Paulsen, 84, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, November 20, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Moline.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, with The Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Visitation is 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the church.
Hans Werner Paulsen was born September 1, 1938, in Schardebüll, Germany, the son of Andreas and Amanda (Petersen) Paulsen. Werner and his brother, Peter, came to the United States in June of 1952. He graduated from Miles High School in Miles, Iowa and went on to marry Judith Kelley on May 1, 1960, in Miles.
Werner served a four-year apprenticeship with Don Johnson. In 1960, he founded Werner Paulsen General Contractor, which he owned and operated for over 60 years.
He was an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, waterskiing and snow skiing. Above all else, his passion was his family and his career.
Werner is survived by his beloved wife of 62 ½ years, Judy; three children, Brian (Lisa) Paulsen of Moline, Rebecca (Pat Degnan) Paulsen of Oak Park, Illinois, and Brenda (Dan) VanVooren of Moline; two grandsons, Andrew Paulsen of East Moline, and Chad Whitehall of Moline; a great-granddaughter, Ava Mae Paulsen; his brother, Peter (Diana) Paulsen of Phoenix, Arizona; and many step-grandchildren, cousins, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents.
