Wayne H. Johnson

Wayne Harold Johnson, 87, formerly of Marblehead Massachusetts, died peacefully on December 20th, 2024 at the Seasons of Danvers Memory Care Facility under hospice care. 

Wayne, the son of Chester and Katherine (Gnatovich) Johnson, was born on October 4th, 1937 in Moline, Illinois. He studied music at Augustana College where he was a member of the Phi Omega Phi fraternity. Wayne served in the Army after graduating from Augustana. He worked for NCR selling mainframe computers, and eventually pursued a career in finance, working for Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith in New York, Minneapolis, and Boston. He also worked at Paine Webber and Moors and Cabot in Boston. 

Wayne was an active member of the Park Street Church and Trinity Church in Boston where he served in various roles and participated in bible studies. 

Wayne enjoyed skiing in New England, Colorado, Utah, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and France. He sailed C-Scows in Minneapolis and with the Rhodes 19 fleet in Marblehead. He was a member of the Eastern Yacht Club and the Whiting Club of Salem. 

Wayne is survived by two sons, Noel (Florence) Johnson of Manchester, Massachusetts, and Eric Johnson of Winthrop; three grandchildren, Whitney, Camilla, and Hal Johnson; and two brothers, Gary (Linda) Johnson and Stephen (Nancy) Johnson. 

A family memorial service is planned in Moline, Illinois this spring.
