April 16, 1961 — November 16, 2025

Port Byron, Illinois

On November 16, 2025, the world lost a remarkable soul with the passing of Virginia “Ginny” Wilson-Peters. Ginny was a resident of Port Byron, Illinois.

A hospitality gathering to celebrate Ginny’s life will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, and will conclude with a time of sharing for family and friends at 4:00 p.m. Casual dress is acceptable. Ginny's favorite color was purple and of course Iowa Hawkeye attire is encouraged. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greg Peters for a fund to be established in Ginny’s memory.

Virginia Lee Wilson was born on April 16, 1961, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to her loving parents Richard “Short” and Phyliss (Jay) Wilson. Ginny was the beloved sister of Robert (Sharon) Wilson, Keith (Kim) Wilson, and Merle (Pam) Wilson. Ginny also had many treasured nieces and nephews.

Ginny married the love of her life, Greg Peters, in 1998. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Brice Peters (spouse Aubrey) and Makaila Burger (spouse Chris). Ginny cherished her role as a grandmother to four grandchildren, Nicolette and Noah Burger and Benjamin and Amelia Peters, and one great- grandchild, Olivia Henry.

Ginny attended Colo High School, graduating in 1979. She continued her education at the University of Iowa, earning her bachelor's degree in 1983 and her master's in business administration in 1993. Ginny dedicated her professional career to companies McGladrey and Pullen and Midland Press Corp.

In 1998 Ginny opened Integrity Integrated where she was able live out her personal vision and purpose to nurture and inspire others to reach for the stars. During Integrity’s 20 years of operation, Ginny’s passion for mentoring and coaching community leaders lead to many miles traveling between Des Moines, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids engaging anyone and everyone who was interested in learning and growing!

She loved leading groups as much as she loved her one-on-one coaching sessions-as long as she was able to inspire others to create change in their lives, it was a good day. Ginny also taught at the University of Iowa in the MBA Program, which included traveling to Hong Kong and Italy to teach Executive Courses.

Beyond her career, Ginny was committed to making a difference in her community. She generously gave her time to organizations such as the Child Abuse Council, Family Resources, Women's Leadership Steering Committee, Quad-Cities American Heart Association Go Red, and the United Way. Her leadership was recognized when she was selected as a recipient of the 2011 Athena award.

Ginny enjoyed a variety of hobbies including sports, card games, reading, and travel. She enjoyed annual summer trips to Cass Lake, Minnesota with the Wilson Clan and friends. She also had a strong connection with nature and enjoyed taking long walks with her dogs and husband, Greg. She had a zest for life that was infectious to all who knew her.

Ginny's passing was after an eight-year battle with Frontal Temporal Degeneration - Primary Progressive Aphasia (FTD-PPA). Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

The family would like to give a big “Thank You” to MeadowView of Davenport's Memory Care Unit and UnityPoint Hospice Team for all you did to help take care of Ginny.

Ginny was proceeded in death by her parents, and her beloved dogs - Sam, Grace, and Schultze.

The family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
