Vincent A. Boens

June 15, 1951 — February 19, 2026

Le Claire, Iowa

Vincent (Allen) Boens, 74, of Le Claire, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Visitation is 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, February 22, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery.

Vince was born June 15, 1951, the only surviving and much-loved son of William and Mabel Boens, and was raised on their family farm in Coal Valley, Illinois. He met the love of his life, Dottie, at her grandfather’s gas station and the two were married on January 6, 1973. Vince and Dottie shared a wonderful 53-year marriage full of many great adventures. They built their first house together in Coal Valley, where they raised their two children, Gina and Victor, and lived for 38 years before relocating to Le Claire.

Like many farm kids, Vince was a hard worker from the start, a trait he carried on throughout his entire life, taking great pride in working tirelessly to provide a good life for his family. He spent most of his career working for John Deere, where he filled many roles. After earning an associate’s degree, he began working in the field of metrology where he found his true passion. He and Dottie were also quite entrepreneurial, for many years owning and operating a small chain of video stores together, and in 2002, starting their own metrology consulting firm, VAB Metrology.

Vince and Dottie lived by the motto “work hard, play hard.” As diligently as they worked, they also made sure to make time for family and fun. They especially enjoyed travelling together, visiting nearly all 50 states and more than 30 National Parks. They also enjoyed many trips with Gina and her family, making special memories in Hilton Head, Orlando, the northeast, the southwest, and especially Hawaii. In recent years, they cherished traveling around the Midwest to attend Victor’s children’s various sporting events. Vince also enjoyed working in his garage, shooting trap, going for rides in his Mustang convertible, enjoying a great steak dinner, making sure he had the greenest grass in the neighborhood, and, most especially, being a grandpa. He always had time to play a game of euchre with Paige and Sophie, try his best to beat Claire at chess, or hang out in his hot tub with Anna, Will, and Kate.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents William and Mabel Boens. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dottie, his daughter Gina Graham (Doug), son Victor (Pam) and six adoring grandchildren: Claire, Paige and Sophie Graham, and Anna, William, and Kate Boens.

His spirit will live on through his grandchildren: Claire, who shares her grandpa’s relentless determination, Paige, who carries on his positive outlook, Sophie, who inherited his curiosity for how things work, Anna, who shares his desire to have things done the right way, Will, who tries his best at everything he does, and Kate, who carries on her grandpa’s love for life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
