Tonya L. Townsend

Tonya L. Townsend, 50, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Friday, March 22, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Services to celebrate Tonya’s life will be 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the Raccoon Motel, 315 E 2^nd Street, Davenport, Iowa.  Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to Scott County Humane Society in her name.

Tonya Lee Townsend was born August 17, 1973, in Davenport Iowa, the daughter of Duane (Mike) and Phyllis Townsend. She married the love of her life, Brant Nelson, on November 26, 2020, in Rock Island. They were in love together for 15 years.

She worked her dream job as a union organizer for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Tonya loved spending time with her family, canning with her sisters and daughter, spending time with animals, thrift shopping, music, and traveling. 

She is survived by her husband, Brant Nelson; her children, Magen, Cheyanne, Trysten, and Gavin; two grandchildren, Aaron and Emily; and siblings, Ginger, Kim and Ronnie.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donnie and Mark Allen
