Timothy P. Ruefer

Timothy P. Ruefer, 69, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Thursday January 9, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, with his family by his side.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to VFW - Veterans of Foreign Wars  or Boys Town.

Tim was born on October 17, 1955, in Rock Island, the son of Eugene Frank and Mary Catherine (St. Onge) Ruefer. On March 28, 1981, he married Paula Elaine Jacobsen, the love of his life, in Rock Island. Together, they raised three children before her passing on January 5, 2013. Tim dedicated over 37 years of his career to Ragan Construction as a skilled steamfitter and pipefitter.

A proud member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union and the Rock Island Moose Lodge #190, Tim was a man who lived life to the fullest. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, playing golf, and relaxing in his garage. He never missed his daily routine of coffee, the crossword puzzle, and listening to the radio. Above all, his family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished the time he spent with his beloved grandchildren.

Tim is survived by three children, Joshua Ruefer of East Moline, Jacob (Mareah) Ruefer of Madison, Wisconsin, and Joella (Jon) Koenig of Rock Island; seven grandchildren, Avery and Benjamin Ruefer, and Joseph, John, Justin, Juliet and Jeremiah Koenig; siblings, Michael (Paula) Ruefer of Davenport, Cathy (Jim) VanFossen of Davenport, Susan (Fred) Smith of Peoria, Annette (Tim) Nisley of Hanceville, Alabama, Nancy Ruefer of Davenport, and Colleen “CoCo” (Marty) Mansfield of Colorado City, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Paula.
