Thelma C. Bowers, 94, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, died Friday, May 24, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport.
Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
The former Thelma Clara Phillips was born July 20, 1929, in Bettendorf, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Clara (Martini) Phillips. She married Russel Bowers and the couple had five children prior to divorcing.
She worked as a school bus driver for several years and later worked for Hy-Vee and the Davenport Country Club. She was a talented cook and baker. She enjoyed working in her garden as well as knitting, crocheting and sewing. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Thelma is survived by four children, Diane Bowers of Hollywood, Florida, Debbie (Tim DeNeve) Theil of Davenport, Brian Bowers of Everett, Washington, and Bruce Bowers of Riverdale, Iowa; three grandsons, Phillip, Luke and Randy Bowers; and her cat, Kiki. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bradley Bowers; and four siblings, Harvey and Harley Phillips, Flora Bright and Veva Cale.
