Steven C. Herring, 55, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at home.
A gathering to celebrate Steve’s life will be Sunday, February 25, at The Lodge at the Conservancy, 3800 Flora Drive, Milan, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and going well into the afternoon. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Steve.
Steven Craig Herring was born December 11, 1968, in Moline, the son of Raymond Francis and Karna (Russell) Herring. He graduated from Moline High School.
For the last 28 years, Steve worked alongside his close friends and “second family”, Dean and Jake Sheldon, at D.S. Excavating.
He was an avid Nascar fan, especially of Chase Elliott. He also enjoyed going fishing and watching motorcross down at the race track. He loved his dogs.
Steve is survived by his mother, Karna Herring of Moline; his sister, Beth Bridges of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; niece, Jenna Herring; nephew, Rob Bridges; great-nieces and -nephew, Adriana, Alex and Isabella; aunts and uncles, Mary Herring of Maquoketa, Iowa, Richard and Jima Herring of Broomfield, Colorado, Ruth and Dave Gould of Milan, and Carol Schofer of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and many cousins and friends.
If there is any consolation to be had in the light of this senseless tragedy, it is that Steve is now re-united with his beloved father, Ray, and loving dogs, Bandit and Ryder.
The family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
