Stanley L. Burich, 100, of Silvis, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center.
Graveside services are 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 11:15 a.m. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to River Bend Food Bank.
Stanley Louis Burich was born August 2, 1925, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Stanley and Victoria (Soucinek) Burich. He graduated from United Township High School in East Moline, where he was a standout basketball and football player and was honored as the school’s Homecoming King.
Upon turning 18, Stan enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces. During World War II, he flew 22 combat missions and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with three Bronze Service Stars, the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and additional commendations in recognition of his courageous service.
On July 18, 1947, Stan married Lois Alftine, and together they raised five daughters, sharing nearly 40 years of marriage before her passing on April 10, 1986. He later married Jeanne (Anderson) Strother on January 2, 1989. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2000.
Stan devoted many years to his trade as a lather plasterer. He owned and operated Stan Burich Latherers before concluding his career with Builders Sales & Services.
A member of First Lutheran Church, Stan enjoyed golfing, camping, and playing cards. Known for his strong work ethic and devotion to his family, he took great pride in providing for those he loved and treasured time spent with them.
Survivors include his four daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Walter Crow of East Moline, Coleen Piliponis of Loves Park, Illinois, Candice and Donald Koster of Rock Island, Kathleen and Robert Harrington of Coal Valley, and Tim Donnelly of Milan; ten grandchildren, his pride and joy, Amy (Clay) Bahnsen, Joy Crow, Michael Piliponis, Ryan (Jeani) Piliponis, Nicholas Warner, Kristin Harrington, Brett (Lainey Lancial) Harrington, Jestin (Rhiannon Tucker) Burich, Christopher Erwin, and Chad Erwin; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives; his parents; his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Donnelly; and siblings, Steven and John Burich, and Mildred Lass.
