Ronald D. Schmidt, Jr., 57, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

A gathering to celebrate Ron’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22, at Crabby’s Bar & Grill, Coal Valley. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Private burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Ron’s memory.

Ronald Duane Schmidt, Jr. was born August 2, 1969, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Ronald Sr. and Zelma “Garrie” (Garrison) Schmidt. He married the love of his life, Lori Parsons, on October 14, 2008, in Rock Island.

Ron was a talented artist who enjoyed working with metal, painting, and drawing. He also loved camping and flying his drone. Above all, nothing brought Ron more joy than spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Lori; two sons, Joseph and Justin Parsons; his granddaughter, Emma Parsons; siblings, Dawn (Barry Laud) Schmidt-Laud, Kimberly Schmidt, and Christopher Schmidt, Sr.; nieces and nephews, Sam and Julie King, Christopher Schmidt, Jr., Kaitlyn (Travis) Wall, and Parker, Noah, and Hunter Schmidt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pat (Jan) Parsons, Debbie (Donald) Morris, and Scott Parsons; and many cherished friends, including Mark (Misty) Reed. He was preceded in death by his parents.
