Ronald Eugene Carty was born March 14, 1980, in Moline, the son of Craig Alan and Vicki (VanDaele) Carty. He attended Moline schools where he made countless friends that he carried through his life. He spent most of his adult years in a relationship with Lindsay Reveal. Prior to separating, they shared Ron’s two greatest sources of pride, his son Craig Carty, and his daughter, Caitlyn Carty, who passed away May 5, 2025.
Ron worked for what is now Vallen Distribution for over 20 years. He grew up spending most weekends at the family cabin on the Rock River, learning to love everything outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, floating on the river, grilling out, and in recent years going on as many walks as he could fit into his day. He was a loyal Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Ron will be remembered as a strong-willed man who would do absolutely anything for a friend or family member in need.
He is survived by his son, Craig Carty of Moline; his mother, Vicki Carty of Moline; his sister and brother-in-law, Brooke Carty-Wheelan and Chris Wheelan of Port Byron, Illinois; his niece and nephew, Nevaeh and Reece Wheelan; his grandmother, Sally Lane of Moline; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Caitlyn Carty; his father, Craig Carty; Vicki’s second husband, James Vespermann; grandparents, Connie Welch, James VanDaele, and Bob Lane; and his uncles, David VanDaele, Chris Carty, John Johnson, and Michael Reed.
