Roland Harrington-Spears, 68, of Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Premier Estates of Toledo, Toledo, Iowa.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.

Roland was born August 7, 1956, in Davenport, the son of Walter and Mildred (Harris) Spears. He married the love of his life, Ethel Ruth Harrington and the couple had four children all together. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a CNA for St. Anthony’s Nursing & Rehab in Rock Island and St. Mary’s Healthcare in Davenport prior to becoming a truck driver, working for Hopkins Trucking in Davenport.

He enjoyed walking, listening to music, and most of all watching his grandchildren grow up and spending time with his family whenever he could.

Roland is survived by his children, Roldan Spears of Peoria, Illinois, Mildred Harrington of Davenport, Rollanda Harrington of Moline, and Andre Harrington of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Ta’Lisa, Ta’Darrius, and Ta’Layzia Harrington, Kotevi Colley, Jr., Marzell Harrington, Angela Brink, Neveah Johnson, Sai'On Johnson, Roldan Johnson Jr, Kaylisha Johnson, Jonathan Hammman, Serenity Johnson, Giovanni Johnson, Ky'Mira Johnson, Roxy Johnson; and siblings, Walter (Gail) Spears of Texas, Beverly Rollins of Washington, Mirchelle Davis of Davenport, Alan (Martha) Spears of Davenport, Andrew (Aileen) Spears of Davenport, Gaysha (Frank) Cobb of Washington, and Kathy (John) Pritchard; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel Ruth Harrington-Spears; a granddaughter, Ad’juanay Serenity-Ann Harrington-Bennett; and siblings, Sherri Spears, Mildred “Millie” Spears, Samuel “Gene” Spears, James Spears, Darlene Hall, Sandra Taylor, and Aaron Spears.
