Robert W. Carlson

May 4, 1938 — May 22, 2022

Robert W. “Bob” Carlson, 84, of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on May 22, 2022 as he held hands with his wife and son.

Per Bob’s wishes there will be no services. A celebration of his life will occur at a later date.

Bob was born May 4th, 1938 to Walter and Margaret Carlson in Davenport, IA. He married his first wife, Sandy in November 1959 and had three sons. They divorced in July of 1987. He married his wife Judee on July 3rd, 1993.

Bob graduated Davenport High School in 1956. He joined the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local 6 in 1959, joining the Rock Island Chapter #7. Bob became the Business Agent in 1973 until 1995 when he was elected Executive Director of the Tri City Building Trades Council, the position he held until his retirement in 2002. Bob served in the Army National Guard from 1962-1968.

Bob loved to have fun every day, enjoying boating and being outdoors. He was also a hard worker and dedicated craftsman, making sure every project was perfect. Bob had a great sense of humor and told jokes that would make everyone in the room laugh. Bob was a committed father, making time to play catch, coach a team, or attend a concert, even after long days.

As Bob’s health waned, he endured a long hospital stay. Judee was by his side every day. Bob desperately wanted to get home. He was able to spend the final weeks of his life at home because of Judee’s faithful care.

Left to honor Bob’s memory are his devoted wife, Judee Carlson, sons Kurt (Theresa) of Dallas, TX and Kevin (Kelly) Carlson of Davenport, IA, two adult stepchildren Melissa and Jeff Sadler, four grandchildren, Nick, Zach, Cole, and Korra Carlson, one step-grandchild Roxanne Sadler, and his two sisters Bonnie Timmerman, Virgin City, UT, and Beverly Schultz, Alamo, TX.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son Jeff.
