Robert L. Smith, Jr., 64, of Davenport, Iowa, passed on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at his residence.
Arrangements are pending at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Robert Lee Smith, Jr. was born on October 20, 1961, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Robert Lee and Nancy (Hoper) Smith, Sr. For over 20 years, he brought smiles to countless faces as “Magician Beguiling Bob”, “Mulligan the Clown” with Quad City Clown Troupe, and “Crusty the Clown” with Crusty Pizza. He married Karen Stirk on September 12, 1999, in Davenport, Iowa, beginning a partnership filled with love, laughter, and plenty of stories.
Bob and Karen were proud members of the Quad Cities Clown Troupe. He never missed a chance to perform at benefits, twist up balloon creations for kids, or share a joke. He had a personality that never met a stranger and was always ready with a good joke. He also enjoyed learning magic. Bob was a lifelong and die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, and he would never miss a game. He had a deep love for the Bible and could recite it from front to back. He treasured the friendships he made in his apartment complex and looked forward to weekly potlucks, card games, and the kind of laughter that made those gatherings feel like family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen Smith of Davenport, Iowa; stepsons, Ronald Graham of Silvis, Illinois and Scott Graham of Coal Valley, Illinois; twelve step-grandchildren; twenty-two step-great-grandchildren; sister, Kelly (Randy) Norberg of Clinton, Iowa; three nieces; two nephews; four great-nieces; seven great-nephews; and sister-in-law, Marlene Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nancy Smith; brother, Kevin Smith; and a stepson, Jason Stirk.
