Robert G. Hoskins, Jr., 55, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at home.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Bob’s memory.
Robert Gero Hoskins, Jr. was born January 16, 1967, in Moline, the son of Robert Sr. and Nancy (Bates) Hoskins. He was a two-time state championship wrestler at Orion High School. He worked for Caterpillar in Peoria for many years. While living in Peoria, he was active in the Peoria’s local community theatres and volunteered at Richwood’s Christian Church.
He had a wide variety of talents and interests. He enjoyed skiing, tennis and ice-skating, mushroom hunting and fishing, trapping, and taking care of the farm with his dad. He was also a skilled writer and singer.
Bob was absolutely fearless – if he was told something couldn’t be done, you could bet he would find a way to do it. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Bob, especially his beloved daughter, Madeleine. He was incredibly proud of everything she had accomplished and had been looking forward watching Maddy graduate from college the day he passed away.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Madeleine Hoskins of Chicago; his father, Robert G. Hoskins, Sr. of Coal Valley; a sister, Lisa Page of North Aurora, Illinois; a brother, Brandon Hoskins of Moline; and two nephews, Noah and Drew Page. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Hoskins; and a sister, Laurie Hoskins.
