Robert Frank Harris was born January 13, 1955, in Eads, Tennessee, the son of Royal Sr. and Corrine Elizabeth (Holliday) Harris. He married Jeanne Holmes on February 13, 1988, in Rock Island.
He worked for the railroad and then the City of Rock Island for many years. He retired from Hill & Valley in Rock Island.
Gillie enjoyed living life and stayed active. He loved boxing and playing softball in his younger years, as well as bowling for most of his life. He was skilled at playing cards and dominoes, although some in the family claim he may have cheated from time to time. Above all else, nothing was more important to Gillie than his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them.
Gillie is survived by his wife, Jeanne; four daughters, Yvonica Holmes, Ymesa (Rev. Lorenzo Martin) Martin, Laquasha Holmes, and Lashondria Holmes, all of Rock Island, as well as a bonus daughter, Trina Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, DeMykhal Teague, DeMarco (Chatavia) Teague, DeMarrio Teague, Davion Nelson, Quaydarius Carpenter, Anastasia Holmes, Ashondria Holmes, Frank Holmes, Ashton Holmes, Adlonis Hopkins, and Lorenzo Martin, Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Martha Harris of Memphis, and James Harris of East Moline; a special friend, Ilean Bohannon of Rock Island; and a host of nieces and nephews, many of which were just like brothers and sisters to Gillie. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
