Robert O. Baker, Jr.

Robert O. Baker, Jr., 81, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

Robert’s body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital at the University of Iowa.

Robert Ovid Baker, Jr. was born October 27, 1943, in Hillsdale, Illinois, one of 11 children born to Robert O. and Margaret (Curtiss) Baker, Sr. He married Sherry Thomas on December 12, 1970.

He worked for John Deere for several years before becoming a truck driver. He then worked for Disney World and Publix while living in Florida before ending his career working at Walmart. He was a simple man who enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers and staying home “not spending money”.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sherry; seven children, Angela (Mike Sneath), Dennis (Stephanie) Baker, Shawn (Teresa) Baker, Robert “Rob” Baker, Tonya (Mike) McLane, Tammy Baker, and Becky Baker; 17 grandchildren; and 19-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tarry “TJ” Baker; and a great-grandson, Phillip Creamer.
