Rick was born on June 4, 1964, in Moline to Al and Jan Lasek. He was the youngest of three children and was very active in his community growing up. Rick was a standout athlete at United Township High School, specifically in football and baseball. Rick’s father often coached his children’s sports teams while they were growing up. Even after graduating from UTHS, he continued coaching, and umpiring sporting events around the Quad City area.

Rick attended Western Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Marketing in 1987. He was the Vice President of Theta Chi fraternity. After graduation, he went on to have a very successful career in banking, and made many connections throughout the Quad City area. He was a valuable resource for customers during the pandemic and guided many through an unchartered time.

Rick met Kimberly in college, and they married on February 23rd, 1991.

Rick was very well-known in his community. He had the reputation of being a compassionate family man and caring friend. He loved watching his three daughters grow up, and rooted for their success and happiness in life. He supported his daughters in all their schooling and extracurricular activities. His happiest moments were during the many instances in which he watched his daughters succeed in life.

Rick enjoyed golfing with his friends, specifically on Wednesdays, and enjoying a beer at Mulligan’s or Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley. He was a big sports fan, and loved watching the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini. He loved discussing public policy and social justice issues with his friends, and enjoyed all conversations, even views different from his own. He appreciated hearing other people’s ideas on current events and American politics. Rick was considered to be an ally for people of all backgrounds and differences.

Rick is survived by his wife Kimberly Lasek; his children, Amanda (Erik) Rodriguez, Abbey Lasek, and Chloe Lasek; his brother Jim Lasek; his sister, Cindy (Nick) Descamps; his mother Jan Lasek; and his grandchildren, Lily, Sadie, and Ethan; as well as many nieces, and nephews. Rick is preceded in death by his grandparents; father; and father-in-law, Dale Frohn.
