Richard A. Newton

Richard A. Newton, 94, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Private graveside services will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery.

Richard Arnold Newton was born March 31, 1931, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Charles and Stella (Knox) Newton. He married June Flemming and the couple had four children prior to separating.

He was a proud Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a paratrooper. He retired from Caterpillar.

Richard is survived by two children, David (Cynthia) Newton of Moline, and Tammy (John) Herr of Milan; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Richard and Charles Newton; and siblings, Eugene Newton, Chester Newton, and Dawn Steckman.
