Richard E. Farmer, 87, of Davenport, Iowa, died Sunday, July 6, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Breakthrough T1D.
Richard Eugene Farmer was born January 2, 1938, in Eau Claire, the son of George and Julia (Johnson) Farmer. He served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard and went on to marry the love of his life, Sharon Cable, in 1964, in Vancouver, Canada.
He worked as a loan officer, spending most of his career at Beneficial Finance, later Household International. He loved the game of baseball, playing in his younger years and coaching into adulthood. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; three children, Reesa (Mark) Rocco of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Scott (Debrah) Farmer of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Sean (Michelle) Farmer of Blairsburg, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Ruth Farmer.
