Raymond B. Redecker

Raymond B. Redecker, 82, of Andover, Illinois, died Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, Illinois.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Andover American Legion Post.

Raymond Bernard Redecker was born February 15, 1941, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Marie M. (Deisenroth) Redecker. He was raised on the family farm, after which he completed a 4-year union carpenter apprenticeship with Local #166 in Rock Island, Illinois. He became a carpenter foreman for Dean Frye Construction in Davenport, Iowa, in 1962, becoming superintendent in 1964.

He farmed on the side from 1965 until 1972, at which time he started Redecker Construction company, operating it until retiring in 2000. He enjoyed tractor pulling, remodeling run-down homes, and accumulating apartment complexes. He also liked collecting toy tractors, cars and trucks. He was very fond of I.H. tractors.

Ray is survived by four children, Mike (Lisa) Redecker of Geneseo, Bob (Ingrid) Redecker of Bettendorf, Ginny (Ray) Brown of Viola, and Vicky (Rick Martin) King of Osco; five grandchildren, Jake Redecker, Jessica (Kenny) Collis, Colton Brasmer, Brock (fiancé Ashlyn Kane) Redecker, and Joey Redecker; two great-granddaughters, Haylee and Mackenzie Collis; siblings, Patricia Redecker of Milan, Gary (Suzanne) Redecker of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Jacqueline (John) Esser of Geneseo; a brother-in-law, Oliver Dykeman of Cambridge; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marie Maciolek, and his twin-sister, Rosalie Dykeman; and brother, Henry Redecker.
