LeClaire, Iowa

Randall G. Gebhardt, 64, of LeClaire, Iowa, was fatally shot on Friday, February 28, 2025, while in Costa Rica.

A hospitality gathering to celebrate Randy’s life, complete with food and drinks, will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with a time of sharing for family and friends at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Randy’s memory.

Randall Grant Gebhardt was born February 9, 1961, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Richard Lawrence and Sandra Lee (Herman) Gebhardt. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Illinois State University. He married Hope Frey and from the marriage came two children prior to the couple separating.

Having been raised around his parents’ pool supply business, Randy took pride in becoming the owner and operator of Central Pool Supply in Moline. He often shared with people that he ran the business for “35 years and 35 months” before selling it in 2023. His customers valued his dedication and extensive knowledge of pool supplies, and he always put their needs first.

Randy had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, fine food, wine, and a fun night of karaoke. His passions also included collecting coins, stamps, and pinball machines. A seasoned traveler, he especially loved visiting the Florida Keys and Costa Rica.

An outgoing and fun-loving man, Randy was known for being the life of the party. His warmth, energy, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Randy is survived by his two beloved children, Cassandra (River Shaw) Gebhardt of Rock Island, Illinois, and Dane Gebhardt of Port Byron, Illinois; his mother, Sandra Gebhardt of Edelstein, Illinois; siblings, Rick (Maritza) Gebhardt and Jill (Joel) Dryden, both of Peoria, Illinois; his best friend, Zack (Missy) Monroe of Bettendorf, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Gebhardt; his brother, Theodore “Ted” Gebhardt; and his nephew, Brock Gebhardt.
