Philip R. Hull, 70, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, immediately followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Phil’s memory.
Philip Roy Hull was born August 26, 1956, in Waupun, Wisconsin, the son of John and Gertrude (Vande Streek) Hull. He graduated from Waupun High School in 1974 and spent several years working on oil rigs overseas. After returning home, he built a career as a mechanic and truck driver with Hull Enterprises in Muscatine, Iowa.
On November 13, 2021, Phil married the love of his life, Jennifer Hassell, in East Moline.
Phil was a master in karate and spent many years sharing his knowledge and passion as an instructor at Ekims Karate in Silvis. He was also an avid Harley rider, a NASCAR fan, and a mechanic at heart. Anyone who knew Phil knew that his garage was much more than a place to work—it was a gathering spot. Proudly calling himself a “garage junky,” Phil loved having people stop by to hang out.
But more than anything, Phil loved his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in making sure each of them had their own Jeep—of course, with a few modifications to make them go faster.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer; his children, Kevin (Ashley) Hull of Salem, Wisconsin, Asher (Cathy) Larson of Bloomington, Illinois, Andrew Bohnsack of East Moline, Maddison (Derek) Hirt of Muscatine, and Garrett Bohnsack of East Moline; three grandchildren, Izzy Hull, Jaxon Hirt, and Emmy Hirt; siblings, Elton (Katherine) Hull, Lois (Gordon) Alsum, Delvin (Lillian) Hull, Ronald (Joan) Hull, Caroline Gilmore, and Jerald (Luanne) Hull; brother-in-law, Samuel Braaksma; sister-in-law, Marlene Hull; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Elaine Braaksma, Gordon Hull, Robert Hull, and Lyle Hull.
The family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
