Petra S. Reyes, 85, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Services will be private with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.

Petra was born December 19, 1939, in Juarez, Mexico, the daughter of Jesus and Maria (Rosales) Sanchez. She married Severiano Rico Reyes and the couple had five children prior to separating. Petra, alongside the love of her life of 47 years, Salvador Gomez Reyes, welcomed their cherished daughter, Christina Reyes Gomez, into the world. Their love story, marked by deep devotion and unwavering support for one another, created a beautiful family. Petra's legacy lives on not only in Christina but also in the countless lives she touched with her warmth and kindness. The bond they shared as a family is a testament to the love and joy they brought to each other's lives.

Petra, a cherished member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, was a woman of profound faith and a vibrant spirit who found joy in praising God. She will forever be remembered as an extraordinary mother who instilled strength and resilience in her children, teaching them to navigate life's challenges with grace.

Loved by all who knew her, Petra had a heart that was always open to helping others. She never hesitated to lend a hand to those in need, going above and beyond to offer support whenever she could. Her generosity and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Petra is survived by five children including Edward Reyes, Gloria Reyes, and Christina Reyes-Gomez; her significant other, Salvador Gomez Reyes; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jesus Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ricardo “Ricky” Reyes; a great-grandson, Dante Puletapui-Parks; and six siblings.
