Paul Terry Strandberg was born October 4, 1943, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Paul and Marie (Reedy) Strandberg. He graduated from Alwood High School and went on to marry the love of his life, Sandra Goben, on May 7, 1966, in Woodhull, Illinois. Together they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage filled with love, bus trips and other travels, and memories that Sandy will cherish.
Paul spent his entire career in the grocery industry. He began working for S&R Foods in Macomb, Illinois, before joining Eagle Foods in 1966. Over the years, he served in many roles with the company until retiring in 2003.
Paul loved watching and attending Nascar events, spending time in his garden, and proudly owned three Corvettes throughout the years. More than anything, Paul loved supporting his son, Jason, and later his grandchildren, Seth and Liv, in their sporting events, theater performances, and musical activities. He also enjoyed his many dogs over the years, including his current dog, Lucy Rose.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy; his daughter-in-law, Amy Strandberg of Rock Island; his two grandchildren, Seth and Liv Strandberg of Rock Island; Sandy’s brother, Steve Goben; and Sandy’s in-laws, Ruth Goben, Teresa Goben, Judy Goben, Lucy Goben, and Lalla Goben. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason Strandberg; Sandy’s parents, Orville and Ione Goben; and Sandy’s siblings, Ronnie, Victor, Larry, Dennis, Roger, Benne, Randy, and Michael Goben, and Sally Polk.
