Paul E. Reynolds, 91, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 10:45 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family at a luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe on the lower level following the burial.
Paul Eugene Reynolds was born on April 11, 1932, in Fenton Township, Whiteside County, Illinois, to Scott William and Ruby Emma Enright Reynolds. His father died when Paul was just 2. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Clarence Sterenberg, in Erie, Illinois. On August 16, 1952, he married Rosanna Ellen Moyer, with whom he shared four children. They divorced. He later married Perla Largo on April 21, 1989.
Paul graduated from Erie High School where he loved playing basketball. While in high school, he joined the Naval Reserves. He enlisted in 1953, was stationed in the Marshall Islands as a heavy equipment operator during the Korean War and ended his military service in San Diego. Paul worked as a truck/semi driver for several years driving for Kraft Foods, McLane Trucking, Jewel Foods, Eagle Foods and Lee Enterprises. He also worked at the Rock Island Arsenal in their warehouse distribution center where he retired after 20 years. In his off time, he enjoyed reading his newspaper, watching TV or listening to music while enjoying a favorite snack of graham crackers and peanut butter washed down with strong coffee.
Paul leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Perla; his daughters and sons-in-law Beverly and Marion Strickler of Rock Island, Teresa and Dave Clack of North Las Vegas, Nevada, Paula and
Ed Peterson of Viola, Illinois, and Pamela and Jim Randall of Monument, Colorado; grandchildren, Scott
(Nikole) Reynolds, Andy (Cheryl) Peterson, Malissa (John) Hager, Kathleen (Charles)
Anderson, Matthew (Megan) Peterson, Janell (Aaron) Cervantes, James (Jamie) Randall,
Lindy (Jay) Nelson and Drake (Katie) Randall; Great-grandchildren, Jesseca, Kallista, Braden, Braxton, Sailor, Jack, Jillian, Jacob, Jessalyn, Sullivan, Nora, Ariana, Rosalyn and Hunter; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Dave Manchester of Clarendon Hills, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jan Sterenberg of Mesa, Arizona, and brother-in-law, Wayne Myers of Cordova, Illinois.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, sisters, Judy Myers and Delores Reisenbigler, and his former wife Rosanna Vincent.
