Norma L. Bass, age 96, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025 in her home. There will be no services scheduled at this time and cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Norma was born on December 28, 1928, in Keokuk, IA, to William and Vernice (Davis) Weldon.
Early in life Norma was the first African American female to work in sales at Abrams in Davenport, which is where she picked up her knack for fashion. Most recently Norma had worked with Brammer Manufacturing for over 20 years and is where she retired. Norma enjoyed gardening and reading.
Norma is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Derek) Brewer of Davenport, and a son, Gene Bass also of Davenport, three grandchildren, Keenan Garrett, Quincy Garrett, and Kalisha Garrett, and three great-grandchildren, Keevan Garrett, Kelis Garrett, and Keymoni McGuire.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, LD Bass, and a son, Paul "Butch" Arbuckle.
