Mulugeta “Mulu” Zerihoun was born on January 24, 1960, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Zerihoun Dominic and Almaz Dagne. A man of warmth, grace, and unwavering faith, Mulu dedicated his career to hospitality management, where he was recognized for his leadership, exceptional customer service, and the welcoming spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A devoted usher and cherished member of First Baptist Church in Moline, Mulu considered his church community his second family. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and his deep prayer life anchored him through every season of life. His daily readings from scripture were a source of strength and joy, lifting his spirit and deepening his walk with God. Mulu gave generously of his time through volunteer work and charitable efforts, living out his faith through acts of love, service, and compassion.
Mulu loved people. He greeted everyone with a smile and treated every person as a friend. His kind, sociable nature lit up every room, and he found true joy in entertaining, dancing, and listening to the music that filled his soul—especially the blues he so adored.
A true artist at heart, Mulu expressed himself through painting. His artwork was a vibrant reflection of the joyful moments and inner peace that brought him happiness. Nature, music, family, faith, and memories found color and life in his creations.
Through every battle he faced, Mulu remained a beacon of hope and positivity. His comforting words—“Everything is going to be alright”—offered reassurance and light to all who knew him. That was his gift: lifting others with love, faith, and a spirit that never wavered.
Mulu’s life was a testament to joy, resilience, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the many lives he touched.
Mulugeta is survived by his sister, Wouditu Zerihoun; niece, Selam Mulugeta; seven siblings, and many nieces and nephews whom loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
