Milo E. Wieman, 100, of Davenport, Iowa, entered into the presence of the Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.
Milo Ernest Wieman was born February 15, 1925, in Bear Lake, Michigan, the son of Ernest and Beatrice (Christensen) Wieman. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW2, achieving the rank of Seaman 1st Class. On January 13, 1949, he married Delores Gandy, in Pleasantville, NJ. Milo worked for J.I. Case in Racine, where he and Delores raised their family. He retired from Case in 1981. Milo and Delores were married for 65 years, until her passing in 2014.
Milo loved music. He began playing the mandolin at the age of 11 and played until his final days. He was a member of several music groups, including the Plectrum Trio, The Reachouts, and Pleasant Memories. He greatly enjoyed fishing and refinishing furniture. No conversation with Milo was complete without hearing a joke, or two. Honoring the Lord through song and laughter was his greatest joy.
Milo is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Jim Zahniser of Davenport; grandchildren, Lindsey (Adam) Tippery, Bryan Olsen, Kristi (Donavan) Robinson, and Ben (Christina) Zahniser; great-grandchildren, Bjorn, Augustin, Kai, and Evangelina Tippery, Alia, Miles, and Sophia Robinson, and Nathanial and Elliot Zahniser; his son-in-law, Mark (Dawn) Bednar; and his good friend, Jim (Kim) Bergman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Delores; and his daughter, Karen Bednar.
Services to celebrate Milo’s life will be June 30 at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring Street, Sturtevant, WI 53177. Visitation 10am, service 11am, with a luncheon to follow. Burial with military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Coram Deo Bible Church, please note “Milo’s Memorials”. 3800 E 53rd St. Davenport, IA 52807.
