Michael G. Unzel

Michael G. Unzel, 59, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Harmony on Locust, Davenport, Iowa.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of America Quad Cities Chapter will present military honors. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Michael was born October 15, 1965, in Rock Island, the son of Gerald and Barbara (Noe) Unzel. He was united in marriage to Lena Conley on October 15, 1988. He later married Cari King in Rock Island.

Mike served in the U.S. Army from October 24, 1984 to February 4, 1988, spending two years in Germany. He was a jack of all trades, working as a truck driver for many years until he became disabled.

He enjoyed watching ‘Let’s Make a Deal” and “Price is Right”. He loved listening to music, bowling, joking around, going to the East Moline Speedway and racing, making people laugh, and getting on people’s nerves. He was definitely a family man and loved his family unconditionally. He was truly a giver and not a taker. He had a golden heart and a sense of humor that no one could replace. 

Mike is survived by his wife, Cari; his ex-wife, Lena, and their children, Brittany Unzel of East Moline and Brandon (Heather) Unzel of Moline; and a son from a previous relationship, Terrance Unzel of Kewanee, Illinois. He is also survived by grandchildren, Elliana Unzel, Daleigha and Dayari Johnson, Zemirah Avery, Hailey Unzel, and Jordan and Kaiden Karau; his parents, Gerald (Maurine) Unzel and Barbara Marsden; a brother, Steven (Dawn) Unzel; a nephew, Joey (Katie) Unzel; and special family, Double C and Bea Conley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother, Tommy Unzel.
