Melanie J. Diederich, 69, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, November 10, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
A memorial luncheon will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to QC Paws.
The former Melanie Jo Lesage was born January 6, 1953, in Moline, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Tanghe) Lesage. She graduated from Alleman High School and went on to marry Jonathan C. Diederich on May 14, 1993, in Rock Island.
She worked at John Deere Harvester Works for over 30 years. After retirement, Melanie became a very skilled quilter and made many friends in the quilting world. She also enjoyed gardening. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Melanie.
Melanie is survived by her husband, Jonathan; four children, Timothy (Stacey) Austin of Rock Island, Kylene Brandom of Moline, Jamie (James) Matthews of Colona, and Amber Knudsen of Mount Dora, Florida; grandchildren, Cameron (Jazzmin) Austin, Shelby, James and Jocelynn Matthews, Kyle Edmunds, and Reese and Jordan Knudsen; a great-granddaughter, Willow Austin; siblings, Betty (Jerry) Hazen of Puyallup, Washington, Judith (Ed) Burke of Davenport, Michael Lesage of Moline, and Irene (Loren) Zeitler of Auburn, Washington; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend, Deb Hennel of East Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dick Lesage; a sister, Pat Lee; and a sister-in-law, Penny Lesage.
