Maxine A. Ward

Maxine A. Ward, 89, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Bella Vista, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at StoryPoint Bettendorf.

Visitation is 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet friends at a funeral luncheon following services at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church. 

The former Maxine Adel Owenby was born October 25, 1936, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, the daughter of Dewey and Bernice (Corn) Owenby. She married the love of her life, Allan Henry Ward, on April 12, 1958, in Canton, North Carolina, and shortly thereafter the couple made their home in Bettendorf.

Maxine devoted many years to the Bettendorf Community School District, first serving as a librarian and later providing administrative support at Bettendorf High School until her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Maxine enjoyed golfing, ceramics, sewing, reading, and taking care of her plants. She was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Fox News. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her pride and joy, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Greg and Deborah Ward of Bettendorf, Vickie and Steve Demuth of Frankston, Texas, and Victor Ward of Gladstone, Missouri; six grandchildren, Britney, Brock, Morgan, Devin, Curtis, and Andrea; ten great-grandchildren, Cody, Kylie, Aleyna, Beau, Molly, Cassian, Silas, Finnegan, Nathan, and Daphne; and siblings, Ricky Owenby of Hendersonville, and Debbie (Ken) Boyer of Gerton, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allan; a grandson, Bradley Reindl; and siblings, Oppie Owenby and Joan Lominac.
