Mary Self

Mary Self, 75, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Hope Creek Nursing & Rehab, East Moline.

Burial is 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12^th Street, Moline, at 1:30 p.m. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements. 

The former Lila Mary Peters was born December 16, 1947, in Ottawa, Illinois, the daughter of William and Lila (Corrie) Peters. 

She was a member of the Lion’s Club and enjoyed playing Bingo, going to yard sales, shopping, and gardening.  Above all else, family was the most important thing to Mary, especially her beloved grandchildren.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Dawn Calhoun of Coal Valley, and Lolynn “Sissy” Smith of Rock Island; five grandchildren, Scott Calhoun, Brandon Calhoun, Krissy Calhoun, Kevin (Geri) Miller, and Zachary Calhoun; and two siblings, Ann Santoy and Wayne Peters.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Self; her parents; a daughter, Lolita Smith; and brothers, Bill and John Peters.
