Marion Luther Tatman, known as “Tappy” to many, was born December 25, 1942, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Marion Luther Tatman, Sr. and Opal (Ryan) Tatman. He married the love of his life, Janet Rada, on November 14, 1969, in Anchorage, Alaska, and together the couple shared over 56 years of happy marriage and were blessed with two children, Linda and Thomas.
Tappy was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, retiring on August 31, 1980. He then went to work for Per Mar Security for over 30 years. He worked security for many Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball games over the years before retiring in 2010. He also worked as an Election Judge for many years.
He enjoyed woodworking and photography, and will be remembered as a quiet, unassuming man, who loved his family deeply.
Marion is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; two children, Linda (Eric) Bergo of Lakewood, Colorado, and Thomas (Tricia) Tatman of Moline; three granddaughters (his pride and joy), Laif and Aowen Bergo, and Evelyn Tatman; and two sisters, Sherry Prosser and Marsha (Mark) Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Anthony “Tony” Prosser, and Susie Prosser.
