Marilynn J. Bustard, 100, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, February 27, 2023, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.
Services to celebrate Marilynn’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, with burial at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to YouthHope, 3928 12th Ave. Moline.
The former Marilynn Joyce Sill was born July 28, 1922, in Moline, the daughter of Roy and Bessie (Skinner) Sill. She married Glenn Bustard on July 25, 1942, in Moline. He died June 20, 2006.
She worked in the family business, Bustard’s Apple House in Moline for many years and also for four years at Desaulnier’s. She was an active member of Union Congregational Church, Moline, where she taught Church School for over 50 years.
She was a former Girl Scouts leader, and belonged to the PTA, Haiselle Peterson Circle chapter of King’s Daughters, Homemaker’s Extension and the Quadwrangler’s Square Dance Club.
She enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, camping, swimming, and fishing, and especially loved spending time with her family in Bagley, Wisconsin.
Marilynn is survived by three children, Thomas (Donna) Bustard of Byrdstown, Tennessee, James Bustard of Rock Island, and Kathleen (Orlando) Vallejo of Moline; 10 grandchildren, Brian and Andrea, Michelle, Amanda and Matthew, Tyler and Thomas, and Landon, Kaitlin and Kelin; 16 great-grandchildren; and her dear friend, Merky Monson of Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Nancy Freece; and a sister, Doris Leech.
Marilynn’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at 7-North at Trinity Rock Island for the wonderful care given to their mother.
