Obituary

Marcia M. Parker, 79, of Moline, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 12, 2026, at home.

Visitation is 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial is in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Rite Care Clinic for Speech and Pathology.

The former Marcia Mae Sharp was born December 19, 1946, in Beacon, Iowa, the daughter of James and Bernice (Blake) Sharp. She married Richard C. Parker, Sr., and although the couple ultimately separated, their marriage brought five children who remained the center of her life.

Marcia devoted much of her working life to serving others. She was employed by Mercy Hospital in Davenport and American Air Filter before beginning a career with the Moline Dispatch. During her 30 years with the newspaper, she served in several capacities, including district route manager. She retired on December 4, 2015. Retirement never slowed her desire to stay busy and help others, and she generously volunteered much of her time with Project NOW.

A woman of deep faith, Marcia attended both Homewood Evangelical Free Church and Calvary Church in Moline. She found joy in the simple things in life —crocheting, gardening, searching for bargains, and she sure loved her coffee. Above all else, she treasured her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her true pride and joy.

Marcia is survived by her five children, Richelle (Jim) Scott of Moline, Richard (Dennise) Parker, Jr. of Auburn, Illinois, Jeffrey Parker Sr. of Milan, Illinois, Renee Morgan of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Jill (Matt) Clong of Moline; seventeen grandchildren, Abigail (Jalen) Taylor, James (Amelia) Scott, Christopher Scott, Lisa (Charles) Hill, Richard Parker III, Alexus (Alex) Whitmore, Jeffrey (Jaklynn) Parker, Jr., Ashley Parker, Ayva Parker, Matthew Parker, Benjamin Larrison, Jacob Larrison, Gabriella Morgan, Jon Morgan II, Parker Clong, Carter Clong and Aiden Clong; nine great-grandchildren, Joseph Lohman, Jackson Taylor, Presley Taylor, Alivia Scott, Anastasia Hill, Jeffrey Parker III, Leopold Parker, Charlotte Parker, and Kolton Nimrick; and siblings, Bernice Fenton of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Rita Waddell of Oskaloosa, Julie Beadle of Alden, Iowa, Kathy Streigle of Ames, Iowa, Judy (Rodney) Brink of Bussey, Iowa, Brenda (Mike) Stanbro of Oskaloosa, and James (Nola) Sharp, Jr. of Oskaloosa, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Jessica Grace Parker; sister, Linda Beebe; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Beebe, Harold Waddell, Dennis Beadle, and David Streigle.
