The former Lynne Eve Phelps was born July 27, 1947, in Hastings, Nebraska, the daughter of Laurence and Nina (Medley) Phelps. She joined her sister, Kay, in the family, and the two shared a close and loving bond throughout their lives. Lynne graduated from Hastings High School in 1965 and continued her education at Hastings College, where she earned a degree in Education.
Lynne had two great passions in life: teaching and her beloved “furbabies.” A lifelong educator, she began her teaching career in Texas before settling in Iowa, where she taught in Iowa City and for the West Liberty Public Schools.
Her other great love was her dogs, who were cherished members of her family throughout her life. Lynne adored each of her furbabies and delighted in making or purchasing beautiful outfits for them.
Lynne also had a strong faith and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Davenport. She was a strong, independent, and fiercely loyal woman who led with kindness and lived her faith through every season of life.
Lynne will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Kathryn (William) Kuehn; nephews, Christopher (Tessa) Kuehn, Larry (Brenda) Kuehn, and William Kuehn; great-niece, Anisha Kuehn; great-nephews, Jozef, Anthony, and Benjamin Kuehn; and her special and cherished friends, Monte Mathis, his children, Christy (Paul) Stankee and Melissa (Trevor) Price and their families, as well as lifelong friends, Steve Steely and Chris Volquardsen.
The family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.
