Luther L. Haney, 86, of Silvis, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at home.
Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
Luther Lee Haney was born January 13, 1926, in Williston, Florida, the son of George Washington and Minnie Lee (Turner) Haney. He married Jendolyn Sulser on April 14, 1978, in Davenport, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He worked as a machinist for Rockingham Machine Company in Bettendorf, and built mini-golf courses and driving ranges throughout the Midwest. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Luther is survived by his wife, Jendolyn, a foster-daughter, Leona Terrell of Alberta, Alabama, step-children, Thomas Sulser of Rock Island, Illinois, and Connie Sulser of East Moline, Illinois, and a brother, Floyd Haney of Jacksonville, Florida.
