Louis J. Barbieri, 94, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline.  Visitation is one hour prior to services.  Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or any Veterans of Foreign War organization.

Louis Joseph Barbieri was born April 22, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.  He married Patricia (Doyle) Deeny on August 16, 1986, in Rock Island.

He gave 47 years of federal service, first working at Frankford Arsenal, Philadelphia, PA; Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, CO; Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL; and retired in Germany as Chief, AMCCOM European Branch.

Louis is survived by his wife, Patricia of Huntsville; children, Louis D. Barbieri, Michael Barbieri, Carmella Barbieri, Marta Meyer, and Thomas (Tamara) Deeny; his granddaughter, Kara; and a sister, Rita Melany.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and other siblings.
