Loraine C. "Cy" Hurst

Loraine C. “Cy” Hurst, 86, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

There will be no public services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Loraine Cordell Hurst was born April 29, 1939, in Pittsfield, Illinois, the son of Loraine and Anna (Kirgan) Hurst. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Payne, on May 16, 1959, in Augusta.

He worked as a forklift operator for most of his career, spending 32 ½ years at International Harvester, retiring in 1991. He also spent time at Quad City Auctions as a car hauler among other duties.

Cy will be remembered as a hard working family man. He had tremendous mechanical skills that he used both on the job and around the house. But above all else, family was the most important thing to Cy. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Bonnie; his daughter, Kathy Marx of Moline; six grandchildren, Josh (Lacy) Kane of Moline, Nicole (Ricardo) Aguilar of Moline, Michaela Marx of Bettendorf, Jonathan (Melissa) Pate of Barstow, Illinois, Zachary (Brenda) Hurst of Silvis, and Katie Hurst of Moline; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mardell Lord of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Hurst; two brothers, and two sisters.
