Linda L. VanOteghem, 77, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois.
A gathering to celebrate Linda’s life will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, at Ben Butterworth Parkway East Shelter, 5420 Old River Drive, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.
The former Linda Lee McCoy was born March 9, 1948, in Moline, the daughter of Ralph and Muriel (Christiansen) McCoy. She married the love of her life, Gary VanOteghem, on November 1, 1969, in Moline. The couple shared nearly 50 years of happy marriage prior to his passing on April 1, 2019.
Linda was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Moline. She enjoyed bowling and playing tennis in her younger years. More recently, she dabbled in painting and was quite good at it. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Linda, especially her pride and joy, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Steve VanOteghem of Moline, and David (Megan White) VanOteghem of Moline; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Ian) Rahmatulla, Kyle VanOteghem, Gabrielle VanOteghem, Alyssa VanOteghem, Mason White, Cloe White, and Zane White-Edgington; six great-grandchildren, Lucy and Eden VanOteghem, Avery Byrne, Norie Rahmatulla, and Gianni and Eila Candela; and siblings, Robert McCoy and Lesa Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son, Jeffrey VanOteghem.
