With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Latesha Sanders, who departed this life on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Born on October 23, 1979, to Michelle Sanders and Joseph Butler, Latesha was a bright light from the very beginning. Her warmth, infectious smile, and vibrant spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her life, Latesha worked in a variety of roles that reflected both her heart for serving others and her entrepreneurial spirit. Whether caring for people, providing exceptional customer service, or pursuing her own business ventures, she approached every opportunity with determination, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
She embraced many roles with grace and unconditional love: mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, coworker, and friend. Yet, of all the titles she carried, "Grandma" was the one that brought her the greatest joy. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart. No matter what you called her, the answer was always love. Her heart was truly golden.
Latesha believed that family could be found through friendship. To her, the two were never separate. If Latesha was in the room, you knew two things were certain you were going to laugh, and you were going to leave feeling like family. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and building relationships rooted in laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love. Her kindness made people feel seen, her humor put them at ease, and her unwavering loyalty wasn't something she simply talked about it was something she lived every day.
Latesha had a bold spirit, quick wit, and larger-than-life personality. Her presence could transform an ordinary gathering into an unforgettable one simply by being herself. She never pretended to be anyone else, and those who loved her wouldn't have wanted her any other way.
Latesha was known for the one-liners and sayings that became legendary among her family and friends. She was always quick to say, "I'm not a fighter." There was just one caveat come messing around with the people she loved, especially "one, two, or three," and you had a fight on your hands. If you heard "ScuDD!" or "Where's the family bat?", you knew it was hard on the yard. And if someone owed her money, you could count on hearing, "Chick better have my money!" Everyone knew she didn't play about her coin.
One thing you absolutely didn't do was interrupt her time with Funky Dineva. If you called around 7:00 p.m., chances were your call would go unanswered. That was her time to catch up on her favorite gossip and entertainment. She would clear your call without hesitation, but true to form, she would always call you back after the show ended, reminding you to remember her office hours for future reference.
Her wonderfully sharp sense of humor could catch you completely off guard. She would say something so unexpected that you'd pause for a moment wondering what had just happened before bursting into laughter. She wasn't afraid to say what everyone else was thinking. She would also be the first to admit she couldn't dance, but that never stopped her from getting up, having fun, and encouraging everyone else to join in.
More than anything, Latesha wanted the people she loved to stay connected. She taught us that family isn't defined only by blood but also by the friendships we nurture and the people we choose to love. Her life reminds us to treasure one another, laugh a little louder, forgive a little quicker, and never miss an opportunity to let someone know they matter.
Latesha's life was a reminder that love is often shown through the little things: a phone call to check in, a laugh when someone needed it most, a shoulder to lean on, or simply showing up when it mattered. She had a way of making every person feel important and every gathering feel like home. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Latesha leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children and daughters in-law, Alonte' Sanders, Kshawna Holcomb, Avion Sanders, Destyn Wheeler, Ajonique Sanders; her treasured grandchildren, Alonna Sanders, Aaliyah Sanders, Alayah Sanders, and Avion Sanders Jr.; her loving parents, Michelle Sanders and Joseph Butler; her brothers, James Houston, Albert Johnson Jr., Joseph Butler Jr., and Joseph Jeremiah Asbury Butler; her sisters, Laquisha Henderson, Elisa Johnson, Jolene Asbury Butler, and Asia Rain Butler; her special uncle, Level Sanders; her special cousins, Jacqueline Harrington and Elunda Sanders; her beloved ScuDD Crew Corey Jackson, Tawalla Sanders, and Rejenni Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Latesha was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Willie Mae Sanders and Joe D. Sanders, and her paternal grandparents Ruthie B. Butler and Olden Butler SR.
Rest peacefully, Tesha
