Larry Eugene Morris was born November 29, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Gene and Mabel (Smith) Morris. He earned his bachelor’s degree in History Education from the University of Northern Iowa. Larry worked as a plant manager at Doane for about 20 years before becoming a supervisor at Letica Plastics. He married Judy Vangundy on June 4, 1977, in Joplin, Missouri. Though they later separated, they remained close friends throughout his life.
A devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Muscatine, Larry loved volunteering for any cause that supported his church community. He enjoyed coaching his daughter’s soccer teams at the YMCA during her grade school and middle school years. Known for his quick wit and infectious laugh, Larry could make anyone smile. He loved listening to his cassette tapes, especially classic music, and cheering on his favorite football teams; UNI and the St. Louis franchises, including the Cardinals & Rams. Above all, Larry cherished time with his grandchildren, especially playing board games and making memories together.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Krystal Kallenberger; grandchildren, Lilly, Kimber, and Austin Kallenberger; friend, Judy Morris; and dogs, Oscar and Peanut. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Micah Barnes Vitale; and favorite dog, Fatman.
His laughter, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
