Terry Renihan, 68, of Lynn Center, Illinois, died Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa, from pancreatic cancer.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center,Coal Valley. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. In lieu of flowers Terry asked that you make a donation to your favorite charity, the Wild Horse Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
Terry Lee Renihan was born July 11, 1942, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Richard and Eleanore (Kruse) Renihan. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1960. He married Margot Oberlander in 1966. She died in 2004 from ovarian cancer.
Terry worked at the I.H. Farmall Plant in Rock Island for 22 years. He later worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as an engineering technician, retiring in 1999. In retirement he drove a school bus for the Orion School system.
Terry raised and raced Quarter and Thoroughbred horses in Iowa and Illinois. He was a member of the Iowa and Illinois Thoroughbred Owners Association and life member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed hunting and traveling in the United States and especially loved to trail ride in the Shawnnee National Forest in southern Illinois.
Terry is survived by his two sons Todd (Renae) Renihan of Vernon Hills, Illinois, and Brad (Niki) Renihan of New Freedom, Pennsylvania; the lights of his life, his ?munchkins? granddaughters, Mackenzie, Madison and Morgan, and the newest addition Payton; siblings, Michael Renihan of Cape Coral, Florida, Jill Renihan (Bill Barr) of East Moline, Becki Maxson (Dick Kramer) of Moline, and Lynne Renihan (Louis Ragan) of Covington, Louisiana; nephews Jeff and Tim Renihan, and Kyle and Dain Maxson; sister-in-law, Marcia Skinner; and nieces Melanie Mercado and Mindy Daugherty.
