Obituary

Kristin A. Leatherman, 66, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026, at home, surrounded by the loving family she cherished so deeply.

Friends are invited to celebrate Kristin’s life at a hospitality gathering from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (Lower Level), 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Rescued.

Kristin Ann Brubaker was born November 4, 1959, in Moline, the daughter of Ralph and Pauline (Johnston) Brubaker. After graduating from Alleman High School, she married the love of her life, Greg Leatherman, on June 23, 1984. Together, they built a beautiful life and a loving family, raising their two sons, Josh and Ian, who were her greatest pride and joy.

Kristin was a creative soul who found joy in making things beautiful and putting her personal touch on everything she did. She spent nearly a decade as a chocolatier at Lagomarcino’s in Moline, where she delighted in creating bows, buttons, and other unique details for her work.

She spent years sewing for the Quad City SteamwheCoelers, becoming much more than the team’s seamstress. She was their unofficial “team mom,” sending treats along on road trips and offering encouragement, a listening ear, and the occasional bit of advice. She loved being part of the team and the relationships she built along the way.

Kristin’s generous heart was just as remarkable as her creativity. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, she found ways to care for others, sewing masks for family and friends and placing a rack of free masks outside her home for anyone who needed one. Giving came naturally to her, and she continued putting others first even while facing her own battle with cancer.

When she wasn’t sewing or crafting, Kristin could often be found tending her garden, where her beloved zinnias were her signature flowers. But nothing brought her greater happiness than her family. She treasured the life she and Greg built together, loved her sons dearly, and especially embraced the title of “Grandmother.”

Kristin is survived by her beloved husband, Greg; two sons, Josh (Chris Crow) Leatherman of Rock Island, and Ian (Stacee) Leatherman of Moline; and her grandchildren, Colten and Emree Leatherman. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Rhonda, Susan and Dan.
