Keith Thomas Shelton was born on July 21, 1968, in Moline, Illinois, the son of John and Geraldine “Geri” (Pope) Shelton. He graduated from Moline High School with the Class of 1986 and went on to attend seminary school. Keith worked for Lohman Brothers Insurance for more than seven years. He married the love of his life, Ericka Hahn, on April 8, 1995, in Moline, Illinois.
He and Ericka were members of Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline, Illinois. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was tending to the garden, doing yardwork, renovating, or grilling. He especially enjoyed gathering his family around the dinner table. Keith lived his life for his family and was a devoted father who never missed a school or sporting event. He loved watching his girls play softball and tennis and coached Hannah’s softball team for many years. He also served as a youth group leader. He was a proud papa who made sure to attend all his grandchildren’s preschool events. Keith had a generous heart and always made sure the people he loved had what they needed and wanted, often putting them before himself.
Keith is survived by his wife, Ericka Shelton; daughters, Hailey (Kevin) O’Neill and Hannah (Derek) Shelton; grandchildren, Ellis Levi and Blair Olwyn O’Neill; siblings, Susan Wild, Tony (Sherry) Shelton, Nancy (Jim) Whittaker, Judith Shelton, Jeffrey Shelton, and Kenneth Shelton; nieces and nephews, Shelly, Darren, Aaron, Danielle, Brooke, Lydia, Simon, John, Nathen, and Kara; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Geri Shelton.
