Moline, Illinois

Kaye C. “Katie” Ainsworth, 84, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at Charter Memory Care, Moline.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at First Congregational Church, Moline, with The Rev. Duane Lahti officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church or River Bend Food Bank.

She was born May 9, 1941, in Avon, Illinois, the daughter of Winston and Dayle (Quigle) Crissey. She graduated from Avon High School and attended Monmouth College. She married Gordon Ainsworth on December 6, 1969, in Moline. They shared 52 years of a loving and happy marriage until his passing on February 1, 2021.

She inherited her father’s love of flying and spent time flying alongside him in his bi-plane. That passion led to a career as an international flight attendant with TWA, where she traveled the world and developed a deep appreciation for different cultures and cuisines. Her love of food inspired her to take several cooking classes, including Julia Child’s School of Cooking. These experiences drove her love of traveling with friends and hosting get-togethers at her home.

Katie later worked more than a decade at Staack Florist in Moline forming many meaningful friendships.

She was an active and devoted member of First Congregational Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She also shared her love of music with the community as a member of the vocal group Added Dimensions.

Her commitment to community service was evident through her volunteer work with Trinity VNHA and the Junior League of the Quad Cities. She was a member of the Tri-City Garden Club, the KT Chapter of P.E.O., and King’s Daughters. Katie enjoyed playing tennis and bridge, collecting antiques, and spending summers in Michigan.

Katie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and David Van Hook and Sarah and Jerry Fulscher, all of Moline; two grandchildren, Lauren and Conner Fulscher; her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and John DeRosa of West Dundee, Illinois; and nieces, Tiffany (Ben) Crawford and Lindsay (Scott) Gaspari, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordon.
