Kari L. Glines, 53, of Moline, Illinois, passed on Monday, December 29, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. A celebration of Kari’s life will be held in the future. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County or Empowering Abilities, two organizations that were especially close to Kari’s heart.

Kari Lynn Ryan was born on July 8, 1972, in Rock Island, Illinois, the cherished daughter of Patrick and Janet (Johnson) Ryan. She graduated from Bettendorf High School with the Class of 1990. On March 7, 1992, she married the love of her life, Alen Dale Glines, at Duck Creek Lodge in Davenport, Iowa. Their marriage was filled with devotion and love until Alen’s passing on March 30, 2022.

Kari dedicated much of her working life to caring for others. She spent 16 years with Goodwill before continuing her calling at the Handicap Development Center, Empowering Abilities. Beginning as a caregiver, Kari poured her heart into her work. When her health no longer allowed her to continue in that role, she transitioned to a part-time receptionist position, where her warmth and kindness still touched everyone who walked through the door. Kari truly found joy and purpose in serving others, and the love she had for those in her care shone brightly in all she did.

Known for her unwavering positivity, Kari carried a smile wherever she went, earning the affectionate nickname “Smiley” from the nurses at Trinity Rock Island. Even in moments of pain, she wanted others to feel happiness and remember her for the joy she shared so freely. Kari was loyal, compassionate, and endlessly kind, with a heart of pure gold.

Kari is survived by her beloved mother, Janet (John K.) Bell; beloved father, Patrick (Carol Garrett) Ryan; brothers, Corey Ryan and Brock (Teresa) Ryan and their families; aunts and uncles, Judith Danielson, Megan (Kevin) Welch, Phoebe (Phillip) Johnson, Mike Johnson, Darcey Lillequist, Tom (Dennia) Bell, Jeanne (Jorge) Avena, and Kenny Glines and their families; cousins, Lori Danielson, and Scott (Sonya) Danielson; niece, Kimmy (David) Rose; and many others whom loved her dearly. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Alen; special friend, Judyann Nasios; grandparents, Leroy & Marge Johnson and Jim & Betty Ryan; and her aunt, Heidi Cruson.

Kari’s life was a beautiful example of kindness, love, and compassion. Her smile, her generosity, and her gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

The family would like to send a special Thank you to Dr. Hinton, Dr. Ade, and the entire Trinity Rock Island surgical ICU team for the truly unbelievable care and compassion they showed for Kari during her stay.
