Karen Anne Slyter, 68, of Bettendorf, Iowa, left this world to meet Jesus on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at The Vistas of Bettendorf.
Karen's wishes were to have no service after her passing. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Karen was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 30th, 1956, to Rudy (deceased) and Patricia (deceased) Hoffman. Karen was a loving mother, sister, daughter, and friend to so many throughout her life. Karen leaves behind her only son Michael (Lindy) Slyter; brothers, Ken (Linda) Hoffman, Ron (Julie) Hoffman, and sisters, Kathleen Hoffman (deceased), and Kristi (Michael) Cargill; grandchildren, Landon and Lillie Slyter; nieces and nephews, Christopher Mott, Lindsay Hoffman, Kelli (Logan) Cunningham, Kristyn Hoffman, Haley Hoffman, Scott Hoffman, and Erin Hoffman.
Karen worked in grocery stores her entire life until she was not able to work anymore. She started her career with her entire family at Tri-City Food in East Moline. When her family sold the business, she went to work for Easter Foods in Davenport and finished her career at Silvis Hy-Vee working for one of her dear friends, Luke Corso. She loved seeing her regular customers come in and looked forward to those few minutes of conversation every time she saw someone she knew. She truly looked to put a smile on everyone's face that she encountered. She continued to put smiles on faces as she transitioned into assisted living at The Villas in Bettendorf, Iowa. She loved the entire staff at the Vistas especially - Lacey, Evan, and Joy.
Prior to her passing, Karen asked what her biggest accomplishment was. Without hesitation, she said raising her son. She had so many people checking in to see how she was doing as she was nearing the end. She will be missed, but definitely not forgotten.
